Qualifications:
Graduation from a standard high school (or equivalent).
Must be able to acquire a Commercial Driver's License with Passenger and School Bus Endorsement.
Requires an elevated level of problem-solving skills, self-initiative, and the ability to work without constant supervision.
Professional, people-oriented person with proven supervisory skills.
Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
Effective communication skills both written and verbal.
Demonstrated success in performing a wide variety of tasks requiring an understanding of bus routes and schedules.
Must have a good working knowledge of computers, computer programs, and various office equipment.
Must be able to lift or drag 75 pounds.
Must be able to pass a DOT physical examination upon employment and every 2 years thereafter.
Must pass a CPR/First Aid Class as required.
Must take a Driver Improvement Program course as required.
Must possess a clean driving record and have never been convicted of a felony, Class A or class B misdemeanor, hit and run, or driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
All USD383 employees must pass a background test.
Reports To:
Director of Transportation.
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on the Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
Job Duties:
Make sure all bus routes are covered.
Dispatch school buses from base radio.
Perform work in a neat and organized manner.
Invoice and bill groups for field and activity trips as billing secretary.
Follow work assignments from the Transportation Director and perform any special duties necessary for efficient transportation facility operation.
Operate school buses as assigned as a substitute driver.
Work as a team with AM dispatcher.
Other duties as assigned by director.
