Minimum requirements are 48 college hours or successfully passing the Master Teacher Para Assessment Test. CPR and First Aid certificates highly recommended.



A Paraeducator is a person hired to assist a certified teacher(s) in the instruction of exceptional children.  They will perform a full range of educational/non-educational duties in the following areas:  classroom, clerical, lunch/recess, and personal needs.  Also, appropriately deal with confidential issues and attend appropriate in-service training.


The goal of a Paraeducator is to improve the quality of the educational program offered to exceptional children.  To insure that the best interest of individual students are being met.
