Job Title:  Language Interpreters. 

 

Job Brief:

This position is on call, as assigned and scheduled according to the interpreter's availability. 

 Location: 

  • Various school locations throughout Manhattan and Ogden. 

 Salary:  

  • $21.00/hour for Interpretation.
  • $31.00/hour for Translation.

Hours Per Day:  

  • Times may vary depending on the scheduled request. 
  • Flexible hours depending on availability. 

Days Per Year:   

  • Positions available during the school year.  

FLSA Status 

  • Non-Exempt. 

Qualifications: 

  • Bilingual in English and specified language. 
  • Willingness to participate in oral language proficiency assessment, as needed. 
  • Flexibility with work schedule and reliable transportation. 
  • Effective in time management with professional demeanor and appearance. 
  • Familiar with U.S. Education System and practices desired, but not required. 
  • Experience in interpreter services preferred. 
  • All USD 383 employees must pass a background check. 

Reports To:  

  • District Language Access coordinator and designated building administration and staff. 

Job Duties: 

  • Provide verbal interpretation of specified native language/English for families and staff with an approach that is empathetic, non-judgmental, respectful, and professional during events such as but not limited to: parent teacher conferences, enrollment, school functions and family engagement events. 
  • At times, provide sight-translation of documents and communicate information to families and staff. 
  • Maintain confidentiality of family records and information and boundaries between personal and professional relationships according to USD383 Code of Ethics and Confidentiality forms. 
  • Comply with relevant state and federal regulations and guidance. 
  • Attend annual interpreter orientation and training provided by USD383. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the teacher or building administration.
