JOB BRIEF:
- To assess children’s functional developmental levels; plan and implement age-appropriate interventions to meet child and family objectives; provide recommendations and coaching support; and provide Family Service Coordination.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Kansas teaching certificate (early childhood certification preferred).
- ESOL endorsement (preferred)
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
- All USD 383 employees must pass a background check.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the district.
- Ensures compliance with Head Start performance standards, licensing guidelines, and state grant requirements within the classroom.
- Prepares and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
- Guides students in maintaining acceptable standards of classroom behavior.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
- Demonstrates instructional and interpersonal strategies and techniques that are responsible to the cultural, ethnic, economic and linguistic differences of students.
- Strives to implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Assists in upholding and enforcing Early Learning Program Handbook and Board policy.
- Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for educationally related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
- Attends and participates in staff, curricular, and faculty meetings.
- Participates in district and building in-service activities.
- Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
- Accepts a share of responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned.
- Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with parents/guardians.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with others.
- Provides for his/her own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and /or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning.
- Other duties as assigned by administration.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT/SALARY:
- Full time school year position.
- Based on Salary Schedule.
- 2025-2026 Salary yet to be established.
REPORTS TO:
- Building Principal.
- Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board of Education’s policy on evaluation of certified personnel.

RETIREMENT:
- USD 383 makes monthly contributions to a 403(b)-retirement account for all certified and eligible employees.
- KPERS (Kansas Public Employees Retirement System): 6% monthly staff contribution. Vested after five years.
TECHNOLOGY:
- District provided devices - iPad, laptop, and/or desktop for certified staff.
